This Saturday, March 9th, at 22:30, the Theatre of the No, Athens’ first English-speaking theatre, is set to host an unforgettable evening of jazz with the Gypsy Jazz Trio led by renowned guitarist Konstantinos Mitropoulos. This special performance pays tribute to the legendary French-Romani musician, Django Reinhardt, who revolutionized the world of jazz with his unique blend of virtuosity and creativity.
Mitropoulos, best known for his work with the acclaimed band Gadjo Dilo, brings together an ensemble that will recreate Reinhardt’s iconic sound with both precision and innovation. The Gypsy Jazz Trio’s repertoire will feature a selection of Reinhardt’s original compositions and adaptations, seamlessly blending the retro atmosphere of the 1930s and ’40s with a modern twist that promises to captivate audiences.
Joining Konstantinos Mitropoulos on stage are:
- Ilias Tsagkaris – Guitar
- G. Roulos – Double Bass
This musical tribute will transport you to the heart of the Manouche Jazz tradition, one of the most influential genres in the history of jazz. The trio’s performance is set to offer a fresh, engaging take on Django Reinhardt’s timeless music.
