Hundreds of people gathered on the Greek island of Aegina for the second edition of the Float In Cinema event, an open-air film screening where audiences watched from both the shore and the sea.
The event, part of the municipality’s “Cinema at Sea” initiative organised in cooperation with the Attica regional authority, took place at Vrocheia Harbour, where the 1987 classic Dirty Dancing was screened under the summer night sky.
First introduced in Greece in 2024 by the Municipality of Aegina, the floating cinema returned this year with a larger audience and expanded planning, reinforcing expectations that it could become a regular feature of the island’s cultural calendar.
Spectators watching the film while floating in the water once again became the event’s focal point, drawing large crowds of residents and visitors of all ages.
The Municipality of Aegina said it would continue investing in cultural initiatives that make use of the island’s natural setting.
The municipality also thanked volunteers, partners and everyone involved in organising the event, saying it looked forward to hosting the floating cinema again next summer.
