The Hellenic American Union will screen Mel Brooks’ iconic 1967 comedy The Producers on Monday, January 12, 2026, at 19:30, as part of the parallel events accompanying the exhibition “Me, Andreas Voutsinas”.
Curated by Stamatios Gikas, Iris Kritikou and Marios-Angelos Voutsinas, the exhibition pays tribute to the life and work of the distinguished stage director, actor and theatre teacher, fifteen years after his passing. The film screening highlights a key moment in Voutsinas’ international career, underscoring his presence in the American cultural landscape of the 1960s.
Directed by Mel Brooks, The Producers is a landmark satire of the American theatre world, following two unscrupulous producers who attempt to get rich by staging what they believe will be the biggest commercial flop of all time. The film became an enduring classic of global comedy and earned Brooks an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay.

The cast features Zero Mostel and Gene Wilder in their celebrated leading roles, alongside Dick Shawn, Kenneth Mars, Christopher Hewett and Andreas Voutsinas, who delivers a memorable performance as Carmen Ghia. Voutsinas’ appearance in the film remains a significant milestone in his cinematic journey beyond Greece.
Prior to the screening, at 18:00, the exhibition’s three curators will lead a guided tour of the gallery spaces, open to the public.
