Registrations have officially opened for the 14th Athens Half Marathon, marking the start of preparations for one of the Greek capital’s largest annual sporting events. The race will take place on Sunday, March 8, 2026, with organizers announcing a record number of available spots, reflecting growing interest from runners in Greece and abroad.

The launch of registrations was confirmed at Athens City Hall by the Mayor of Athens, Haris Doukas, and the President of the Hellenic Athletics Federation (SEGAS), Sofia Sakorafa. This year’s edition offers a total of 30,000 race slots across four different routes, representing a 20% increase compared to 2025.

The main half marathon race will feature 12,000 places, while the 5-kilometer race will expand to 15,000 participants and follow a redesigned course highlighting more central city landmarks. Additional events include a family run for parents and children, as well as dedicated races for athletes with disabilities and Special Olympics participants.

Organizers emphasized that the event, held entirely within the city limits of Athens, continues to grow in scale and significance, reinforcing the city’s profile as a major destination for international road racing.
