Bullying Probe Launched Over Abuse of Disabled Teen

A 16-year-old student with a disability is receiving psychological support after allegations of repeated bullying by classmates, prompting legal action and a formal investigation

Authorities have launched an investigation into allegations of sustained bullying against a 16-year-old student with a disability at a school in central Greece, after the teenager’s father filed a formal complaint.

According to the complaint, the student, who attends the final year of lower secondary school, was subjected to repeated harassment and intimidation by three classmates on school grounds. The case has now been referred to judicial authorities for further examination.

Allegations of Ongoing Harassment

The father said he became aware of the incidents last Friday after being informed by the teenager’s brother, who also attends the same school. The matter was first reported to the school principal before the family contacted police and filed a complaint.

According to the allegations, the harassment took place even during class hours. The father claims the incidents went unnoticed because teachers were focused on delivering lessons and were unaware of what was happening among students.

During the reporting process, the teenager reportedly revealed that the bullying had been ongoing and was not limited to recent incidents. He allegedly told investigators that he had previously experienced more serious forms of intimidation, including threats, and had been too afraid to inform his parents because of fear of retaliation.

Psychological Support and Legal Action

The student is now receiving psychological support, with his father expressing concern about the impact the alleged bullying has had on his son’s mental well-being.

Legal action has been taken against the parents of the three students accused of involvement, while complaints have also been filed against two members of the school’s teaching staff.

The case has been forwarded to a prosecutor, who will oversee further investigation into the allegations.

The father said his objective is not only to protect his child but also to raise awareness about school bullying and help prevent similar incidents in the future.
