Μake us preferred on Google Thessaloniki’s Urban Transport Organization (OASTH) is pressing ahead with a significant service upgrade, underscoring its commitment to modernization and better service for passengers. As of Friday, September 18, 30 electric 12-meter buses have begun operating with free wireless internet access for all riders.
The initiative forms part of a pilot program designed to respond to passengers’ evolving needs, aiming to turn the daily commute into a more pleasant, productive and comfortable experience. Depending on the results and public response during this trial phase, the measure may be evaluated and extended to more OASTH buses, broadening the digital benefits across the city.
OASTH president Manolis Belimpasakis said: “We are taking another decisive step toward the substantive modernization of Thessaloniki’s urban transport. We are listening to the everyday needs of our passengers and bringing technology to the heart of our buses.”
How to connect
Buses equipped with free wireless internet carry special markings so passengers can easily spot them. To connect, riders simply need to follow these steps:
1. Turn on Wi-Fi on your mobile phone.
2. Wait for available networks to appear and select #WIBUS.
3. Accept the terms and provide consent for the processing of your personal data by selecting “Continue.”
4. Once the new page loads, skip the advertisement and select “Internet Connection.”
5. Wait a few seconds — your device will be ready to browse.
