The 43-year-old father claims the infant died in June 2022, around 8 or 9 in the evening. According to his statement, the family was at the table when a loud sound came from the crib. He says the child wasn’t crying and appeared to be in a stunned, unresponsive state.
He claims he tried to help by giving the baby a massage and then performing CPR, until he found there was no longer a pulse.
His 38-year-old partner gives a different account. She says the child died in 2023, likely in June, and that she wasn’t present at the moment of death. According to her, the infant had been unwell, with a fever and stomach pain, and it was her husband who gave the baby a massage.
She says she didn’t report it to police because she feared authorities would take her other two children away, and because she wanted to keep the infant’s body close to her.
Forensic findings under scrutiny
The forensic examination findings carry particular weight in the investigation, as they reportedly do not support the couple’s claims that the infant had serious underlying health problems.
The father has given a detailed account of what he says happened after the child collapsed. He says he noticed white fluid coming from its mouth and nose, after which the body went limp with no pulse.
He says he tried for about ten minutes to revive the child through CPR, while his wife and their other children were in a state of panic.
