A 36-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly shooting and injuring a relative with an air gun following a heated argument, according to local authorities.
The incident took place shortly after midday on June 1, when the suspect reportedly went to the victim’s home carrying the air gun. Following a confrontation, he is alleged to have fired the weapon, with one pellet striking a 45-year-old relative in the head near his left eye.
The victim received medical treatment and is expected to undergo a minor procedure to remove the pellet. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.
Police Operation Leads to Arrest
Police launched an immediate investigation and quickly identified the suspect. Officers later located him at his home and proceeded with his arrest.
Authorities say the suspect will be brought before a prosecutor. He faces charges including dangerous bodily harm, violations of weapons legislation and property damage.
Previous Weapons-Related Arrest
According to reports, the same individual had been arrested earlier in May on allegations related to weapons offenses and exposing a minor to danger after reportedly allowing his 12-year-old son to use a weapon.
During a search of his home at the time, conducted in the presence of a judicial official, police reportedly discovered a blank-firing pistol, an air pistol with a magazine and 13 blank cartridges, among other items.
Although he was released following that case, investigators believe he may also have been involved in an earlier incident on May 24, when damage was allegedly caused at the 45-year-old victim’s property.
A new search of the suspect’s residence following the latest incident led to the seizure of two air guns, six packages of metal pellets, gas cartridges used for air guns and the suspect’s vehicle.
