A fresh earthquake struck the region of Ioannina in Epirus early Monday morning, unsettling residents and briefly rattling the area.
The tremor, measuring 4.3 on the Richter scale, occurred at 07:20 a.m. on April 6, 2026, according to the automatic solution issued by the Geodynamic Institute of the National Observatory of Athens.
Seismic activity was precisely recorded at 07:20:50, with the epicenter located approximately 5 kilometers west of Asprangeloi in Ioannina, at coordinates 39.8293°N latitude and 20.6718°E longitude.
The earthquake had a focal depth of just 5 kilometers, classifying it as a shallow seismic event—often felt more intensely at the surface.
Despite the noticeable shaking, no injuries or material damage have been reported so far.
