A restaurant in the Athens suburb of Peristeri has said that initial laboratory tests found no evidence of salmonella after nine people who ate at the establishment reportedly developed symptoms consistent with salmonella food poisoning.
In a statement posted on social media, the restaurant said it has been cooperating with authorities since the investigation began.
According to the business, the first laboratory results showed no indication of salmonella. “The first laboratory test results have been received and, based on an initial evaluation, there is no indication of the presence of salmonella,” the restaurant said.
The business stressed that the investigation is still ongoing and urged the public not to draw premature conclusions before the final results are available.
“Until the investigation is completed, we believe it is important not to adopt speculation or unsubstantiated claims that could create confusion or unfairly harm individuals and businesses,” the statement said.
