Six Minors Found Living in Deplorable Conditions in Peristeri

Following a complaint, police arrested the parents of six children aged 3 to 11 who were found living in appalling conditions in Peristeri

Officers from the DIAS motorcycle unit arrested two parents in Peristeri on Tuesday evening, following a complaint that exposed the appalling conditions of six minor children.

The pair, a 37-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman, are facing charges of endangering minors, as they are alleged to have systematically neglected their children, who range in age from 3 to 11.

The operation took place at 8:45 p.m. on Kipoupoleos Street, where officers located the family inside their home. Upon entering the premises, the scene inside the apartment was deeply distressing.

According to the official police statement, the six children were living in wholly appalling conditions, entirely unsuitable unsanitary, with visible filth on their bodies and clothing.

A Picture of Total Neglect

The officers who took part in the search described the property as being in a state of complete abandonment, with the absence of even the most basic hygiene posing an immediate threat to the children’s health.

The neglect extended beyond the care of the children themselves to the overall state of the property, which was deemed unfit for minors. The six children were immediately removed from the family home and transferred to the Aglaia Kyriakou Children’s Hospital in Athens.

They remain there under specialist supervision for a full medical and laboratory evaluation to assess their health, while the relevant social services are expected to step in to arrange their ongoing care.
