Former Survivor Greece contestant Stavros Floros has filed a lawsuit against the show’s producers seeking more than $100 million in damages, alleging that inadequate safety measures during filming led to the amputation of his left leg.
According to court documents cited by TMZ, Floros was filming the Greek version of Survivor on May 11, 2026, when he was seriously injured by the propeller of a tourist boat while spearfishing in the sea to obtain food.
Floros alleges lack of safety measures
In his lawsuit, Floros claims that a significant part of the reality show’s activities had been organized around mandatory spearfishing in open water.
He states that the area where contestants were required to fish had heavy traffic from tourist boats, creating what he describes as a serious danger to participants.
Floros further claims that there were no dedicated safety boats, protected zones or adequate warning signs alerting passing vessels that contestants were in the water.
According to his statements, there had already been dangerous incidents in the same area. Within the same lawsuit he refers to a previous death in those waters.
Boat propeller caused severe injury
The May 11 accident resulted in the amputation of Floros’ left leg.
He states that he suffered severe blood loss and was at risk of dying before receiving medical assistance.
The lawsuit says an unidentified man aboard the boat played a crucial role in saving his life by applying a tourniquet, which helped control the bleeding until medical assistance arrived.
61 days in hospital
Floros was subsequently transported to a hospital in Miami, where he underwent multiple surgical procedures.
His hospitalization lasted a total of 61 days, according to the court documents.
