The Survivor production team in the Dominican Republic has been left in shock after a Greek contestant suffered a serious injury resulting in a partial amputation following an accident that occurred outside the game.

In a statement, the broadcaster announced that “until the causes of the incident are fully investigated, the television broadcast of the specific program is being suspended.” The decision was made to ensure all necessary procedures are followed and to guarantee transparency in the investigation.

In an official statement, production company Acun Media clarified that, based on the information available so far, the accident occurred when a tourist boat struck the contestant while he was spearfishing outside the reality show’s competition process.

The production team immediately mobilized to provide assistance and arrange the rapid transfer of the injured contestant to hospital. At the same time, local coast guard authorities have launched an investigation into the causes of the incident in order to fully determine the circumstances under which the accident occurred.

According to the same information, the contestant is hospitalized in serious but stable condition and is out of danger.

“It’s a Miracle He Survived”

The contestant’s father spoke to Greek morning show Buongiorno on MEGA TV about the shocking incident.

“The situation was serious. One leg was partially amputated and the other leg has a severe ankle injury,” he said.

“He was spearfishing when a boat with two outboard engines passed by. He had a buoy with him, regardless of what some people are writing claiming he didn’t. Another contestant was also there in front of him. The propellers hit both my son and the buoy. He lost a great deal of blood and it took about 40 minutes to get him to the hospital. He lost even more blood on the way. The fact that he survived is a miracle.”

The player’s father said family members will travel to the Dominican Republic to be by his side.

According to another Greek broadcaster, a fellow contestant witnessed the accident unfold and suffered a nervous breakdown.

The contestant was taken to a hospital in the Dominican Republic, where doctors are monitoring his condition, which is reported to be under control.
