A three-year-old boy lost his life on Tuesday evening in Western Achaia, Greece, after a fall from a two-metre-high wall outside his home in the village of Agios Nikolaos Spaton. The child was rushed to the Karamandaneio Children’s Hospital in the nearby city of Patras but could not be saved despite doctors’ prolonged efforts to resuscitate him.

According to local reports, the incident occurred while the boy was under the supervision of his 25-year-old uncle, as the parents were working in a nearby field.

The accident occurred on a steep road, where the downhill path connects directly to a residential wall more than two metres high. According to reports, the 25-year-old uncle struck his head on the corner of a balcony, became disoriented, and accidentally stepped onto the wall, losing balance and falling, dragging the child with him.

Unsuccessful Resuscitation Efforts

The boy’s grandfather rushed him to a local health centre, and he was later transferred by ambulance to the Children’s Hospital in Patras. Despite immediate resuscitation efforts, including 40 minutes of CPR and intubation, doctors were unable to save him. The child reportedly suffered cardiac arrest shortly after arrival.

The 25-year-old uncle has been charged with negligent homicide and is currently hospitalised with minor injuries. However, the toddler’s parents have not requested his prosecution.
