A shocking incident in Athens has left a one-year-old girl fighting for her life after reportedly inhaling drugs her father was smoking inside their home. The toddler was found unconscious in the family’s basement apartment in the Patissia district and was rushed to the Children’s Hospital, where she remains intubated in intensive care.

Authorities were called to the scene on Saturday night, after neighbors raised the alarm. Police officers from the DIAS motorcycle unit arrived around 9:00 p.m. and discovered the child unresponsive inside the apartment.

According to reports, the 27-year-old father, of Egyptian origin, had been smoking narcotics next to his daughter, causing the baby to lose consciousness due to exposure to the fumes.

The Father Arrested – Child’s Condition Improving

The man was immediately arrested and taken into custody, while investigators are examining the exact circumstances under which the child was exposed to the drugs.

Doctors at the Children’s Hospital confirmed that the little girl did not ingest the substance but had inhaled the narcotic smoke, leading to her collapse.

Fortunately, the child’s condition has since stabilized, and she is expected to be extubated soon, according to medical sources.
