Greece continues its spring-to-summer transition with warm temperatures and a dash of atmospheric drama. While much of the country will enjoy fair weather, passing clouds and localized showers will pop up in select regions, plus, a mild Saharan dust haze may tint the sky.

Expect partly cloudy skies, with clouds thickening at times, bringing local showers and isolated storms in areas such as the Ionian Sea, northwestern Peloponnese, parts of Central Greece, northern Euboea, Magnesia, the Sporades, and the mountainous zones of central and northern Greece during the afternoon.

The African dust transport will also make its presence known, especially in southern and central parts, casting a soft golden filter over the horizon.

Temperatures will rise, reaching early summer levels:

  • Western Macedonia: 11–25°C
  • Eastern Macedonia & Thrace: 13–29°C
  • Ionian Islands: 18–25°C
  • Epirus: 12–27°C
  • Thessaly: 16–31°C
  • Central Greece: 17–32°C locally
  • Euboea: 15–32°C
  • Peloponnese: 15–29°C
  • Aegean Islands: 13–30°C
  • Rhodes area: 18–31°C
  • Crete: 15–31°C

Winds will come from the southwest to west at 3–5 Beaufort, and locally up to 6 Beaufort in the Aegean.

In Athens, expect intervals of thicker cloud cover amid otherwise fair skies. Winds will shift from the west to light southern breezes in the afternoon at 2–4 Beaufort, strengthening slightly at night. The temperature will range from 16 to 29°C.

In Thessaloniki, generally clear skies will give way to afternoon clouds and potential mountain showers. Winds will vary through the day, picking up from the south at 2–4 Beaufort in the afternoon. Temperatures will rise from 15 to 28°C.
