The incident occurred in Romirio, where the woman lives.

According to police, the cat’s owner reported that the 63-year-old had tied up the animal. Authorities subsequently conducted an investigation and confirmed the incident.

The woman was issued an administrative fine of €30,000 and was taken before the Zakynthos Prosecutor’s Office.

Greece’s legal framework governing animal abuse and the killing of animals has been significantly strengthened in recent years and provides for severe penalties, including prison sentences of several years.
