FM Gerapetritis rejected Fidan’s claims, stressing that Greece neither suffers from complexes nor defines itself in reference to Turkey, and will not accept instructions from anyone.

"In a world plagued by civil strife, wars, and intolerance, the message of a unified Cyprus is more urgent than ever," Gerapetritis said.
“Greece can and should be Libya’s voice in Europe and the world,” Greece's Foreign Minister emphasized.
Later in the day, Gerapetritis also met with Belkacem Haftar, who is tasked with Libya’s reconstruction efforts.
The minister stressed that Greece is in close contact with its allies to address immediate concerns, particularly the safety of Greek nationals in Israel, Iran, and the broader region.
“Behind these numbers are human lives and the rights of generations to come,” he said.
"Europe is navigating through unprecedented crises — wars, humanitarian disasters, climate emergencies," he stated.
This meeting provides an opportunity for Athens to establish initial contact with the new leadership at the State Department and explore further areas of deepening cooperation.
Greek FM Gerapetritis will be in the U.S. to speak before the United Nations Security Council in New York on Monday and Tuesday, focusing on the war in Ukraine and developments in Syria.
The key issue discussed during the EU foreign ministers’ informal meeting was the assessment of recent talks between EU officials, U.S. representatives, and Ukrainian officials.
Greece was invited to the Paris Conference on Syria following Greece's Foreign Minister's visits last week to seven different regions, including Damascus itself.
Regarding the Cyprus issue and the upcoming Five-Party Conference, Greek Foreign Ministry sources emphasize that Greece rules out any discussion on a two-state solution or sovereign equality.
Two days ago, on February 9, he was in Damascus, Syria, where he met with Syria’s transitional leader Ahmad Al-Sarra and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Asaad Αl Shaibani.
Regarding regional matters, Gerapetritis and Fidan exchanged views on the situation in the Middle East, in light of the Greek minister's upcoming tour in the region.
