Passenger traffic at Greek airports operated by the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority recorded a 14% uptick in the first quarter of 2025, according to data published by the HCAA.
There was a 9.2% increase in passenger traffic across all Greek airports during the first four months of 2025. Passenger traffic from January to April 2025 reached 13,804,391, compared to 12,645,721 during the same period in 2024.
Regarding the number of flights (arrivals and departures, domestic and international) during the first four months of 2025, across the 39 airports under the control of the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority (HCAA), there was a 6.5% increase compared to 2024. A total of 116,707 flights took place between January and April 2025, compared to 109,603 flights during the same period in 2024.
International arrivals via flights in Greece during 2025 Q1 increased by 4.8%, according to a statistical bulletin published by INSETE Intelligence. Specifically, 1.6 million international air arrivals were recorded, exceeding the January–March 2024 levels by 77,000 arrivals.
At the 24 airports managed by the HCAA, which include among others, Heraklion, Kalamata, Alexandroupolis, etc, passenger traffic rose by 14% in the first four months of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024.
According to the statistics, total passenger traffic (arrivals and departures, both domestic and international) from January to April 2025 reached 1,415,331 passengers, compared to 1,241,640 in 2024.
The “Nikos Kazantzakis” airport in Heraklion, Crete, recorded a 22.2% increase in April 2025 compared to the previous year. It served 595,306 passengers in April, up from 487,303 in April 2024.
