Crete and Syros have emerged among the leading Greek island destinations offering the best value for money in 2026, according to the international travel platform Travel And Tour World, which recently published a ranking based on extensive research and data collection. The platform is widely recognized in the global tourism industry, reaching millions of readers, travel professionals, and organizations worldwide.

The report highlights Crete as one of the most affordable holiday destinations in Greece next year. The country’s largest island offers a broad range of budget-friendly accommodation options. Its local cuisine and markets are also cited as key factors in cost savings, with traditional tavernas and local shops providing quality meals at accessible prices. Visitors can enjoy Crete’s rich cultural and culinary offerings without overspending.

Syros, on the other hand, is noted for its authentic charm, elegant architecture, and cultural identity. The island provides affordable yet high-quality options for lodging, dining, and activities. Particular attention is drawn to Ermoupoli, with its neoclassical grandeur, the picturesque alleys of Ano Syros, and the island’s easily accessible beaches.

Compared to other popular Cycladic destinations, Syros strikes a balance between cost and quality, offering visitors excellent value while avoiding overtourism, which helps maintain reasonable prices and authentic experiences. The list also includes Lefkada, Naxos, and Thasos.

Starting June 15, Aegean Airlines will operate a twice-weekly Syros–Heraklion route until September 18, part of the Municipality of Syros-Ermoupoli’s efforts to boost accessibility and showcase the island’s quality tourism.

The Deputy Mayor for Tourism of the Municipality of Syros-Ermoupoli, emphasized that the municipality aims to improve accessibility and promote the destination, noting that the new air route boosts Syros airport’s capacity and supports local tourism. He added that the goal is to highlight not only the island’s attractions but also the dedication and authenticity of local professionals, who provide genuine Greek hospitality that defines the island’s identity.
