Ukraine claimed on Tuesday it had struck the Crimean Bridge (also known as the Kerch Bridge), causing “severe damage.”
Ukraine’s secret service agency (SBU) posted a video on the social platform Telegram with the video of the attack, writing, “The Security Service of Ukraine carried out a new, unique special operation and struck the Crimean Bridge for the third time—this time underwater!”
Reports suggest the road connecting mainland Russia with the Crimean Peninsula on the northern coast of the Black Sea has been shut down, as Russian authorities are trying to assess the damage.
The strike comes only three days after the audacious drone attack against Russian strategic bombers in several airfields deep inside Russia, which resulted in the destruction of several high-valued aircraft.
The SBU said it used 1,100 kilograms of explosives, which “severely damaged” the underwater pillars supporting the bridge.
