The winds, which will gradually intensify starting from Sunday evening and particularly on Monday, are expected to be a result of a shift in atmospheric circulation over Southeastern Europe, with high pressure rapidly building over the Balkans.
According to the latest forecasts from the National Observatory of Athens/meteo.gr, strong north and northeast winds are expected to dominate the Aegean Sea on Monday, reaching intensities of up to 6-7 Beaufort, with gusts locally reaching 8 Beaufort. In the Ionian Sea, easterly to northeast winds will also strengthen, with intensities up to 4-5 Beaufort, and locally 6 Beaufort.
The EMY has issued a Yellow Warning for Eastern Central Greece and Evia, urging caution due to the potential danger from flying debris. This can pose a risk for outdoor activities and could disrupt various activities in the affected areas.
