A Difficult Year (Une année difficile)

Olivier Nakache and Eric Toledano, directors of the box-office hit and multi-awarded Intouchables (2011), return with their latest feature, A Difficult Year.” Albert and Bruno, two Parisian friends deep in debt, get involved with a group of climate activists, mainly attracted by the free food and drinks. Without any real conviction, the two friends integrate into the group, attempting to profit from each action.

Vincent Must Die (Vincent doit mourir)

Stéphan Castang’s feature-length debut, allegedly riding the new wave of French horror, follows Vincent, who suddenly finds himself under attack by various people, including his colleagues, neighbors, and random strangers. As we question what caused this spiral of violence, things get out of control, causing Vincent to flee and change his life completely. July 4-11

Ti West, director and writer of the 2022 American slasher “X” film series (Pearl and X), returns with the latest installment, “MaXXXine.” Maxine is an aspiring adult film star in 1980s Los Angeles, determined to make it big as an actress. When she successfully auditions for the lead in a new horror film, she becomes the target of a mysterious killer who stalks Hollywood starlets, causing the horror of her past to unravel. July 4-11

After Alex is arrested and convicted of murder, he undergoes therapy conducted by the government to reduce his sentence. However, things go awry.

8th Panorama Festival Athens Edition: Short Films

The Panorama Festival, the self-organized student festival of the Department of Film Studies, School of Fine Arts of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh), primarily showcases films created by filmmakers from Aristotle University’s Department of Film Studies, as well as works from emerging filmmakers from Greece and abroad. On July 9 and 10, Studio New Star Art Cinema will present the short films created for the 8th edition of the Panorama Festival, on both days between 6 pm-11 pm. The event will take place with the filmmakers present and offers free admission.

Greek Classics at Cine Paris: Monday, July 8

Cine Paris, from June until mid-July, is screening well-known Greek classics featuring English subtitles every Monday. This Monday’s (July 8) selected film is Jules Dassin’s 1960’s “Never on Sunday.” Next Monday’s (July 15) last screening of Greek Classics is Nikos Koundouros’ “Magic City.”
