A draft bill instituting postal voting in Greece, with the first opportunity being the upcoming European Union election in June, will be debated in Parliament on Monday, Interior Minister Niki Kerameus said on Sunday.

The draft legislation will give all registered voters the right to vote by mail-in ballot, whether they live in Greece or abroad.

Voters will need to register for postal voting 40 days before an election, which they can do via the tax bureau’s online platform. After logging in with their username and password and registering, they will receive a SMS confirming their registration. After that, they can follow the application process online until they receive the ballot.

Kerameus also mentioned the prospect of 16,500 new hires throughout the public sector, with priority given to health-related sectors, along with climate crisis-affected institutions and forest projection.
