Greece’s ruling center-right New Democracy (ND) party maintained a commanding lead over its rivals in a new MARC opinion poll for ANT1 television, with the opposition remaining highly fragmented despite the emergence of the newly formed Greek Left Alliance (ELAS) as the second-largest political force.
In the poll’s estimate of the election result, which reallocates undecided voters, ND was projected to win 30.5% of the vote, 14 percentage points ahead of the Greek Left Alliance with 16.5%.
Socialist-social democrat PASOK and the newly established anti-establishment Hope for Democracy party shared third place with 10.5% each, followed by the right-wing and Eurosceptic Greek Solution party on 7%.
The Communist Party (KKE) polled 6.5%, while Course of Freedom party stood at 5.3%. MeRA25 received 2.8%, Voice of Reason 2.7% and Democrats 1.3%.
Below the 3% parliamentary threshold were the left-wing SYRIZA party on 1.2%, the nationalist Niki (Victory) party with 1.2% and New Left with 0.9%, while other parties collectively accounted for 2%.
The findings reinforce a trend seen in recent opinion polls, with incumbent Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ New Democracy maintaining a comfortable lead while opposition parties continue to compete for second place without producing a clear alternative governing bloc. The emergence of the Greek Left Alliance has reshaped the opposition landscape, further eroding support for SYRIZA, which has continued to register historically low polling numbers following successive internal splits and leadership changes.
The survey also highlighted the issues dominating public concern. Inflation and the cost of living remained by far the most pressing issue, cited by 73.8% of respondents, followed by wages and pensions at 39.4%.
Corruption and political scandals ranked third on 31.4%, ahead of crime and violence at 27.7%. Healthcare was cited by 23.8% of respondents, followed by wars and international conflicts with 22.1%.
Concern over illegal migration into the country ranked next with 13.6%, followed by national security and relations with Turkey with 13.2%, demographic decline on 12.6% and education, with 11.1%.
