SYRIZA’s Political Secretariat has decided the party will run in the upcoming national elections.

According to the party’s statement, SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance continues on its established course, describing the Central Committee’s decision on July 11 as a turning point.

The party said it will take part in the electoral contest, implementing the decisions of its 5th Congress. It framed itself as a party of the modern Left entering the race with its programmatic and ideological platform, the human resources of the Left, and the weight of its history and its 2015-2019 record in government.

The Political Secretariat’s decision also states that, starting this coming Saturday, the period of uncertainty will come to an end, and that the days ahead will mark the beginning of a necessary new unity among left-wing forces. The statement adds that the modern Left and its program are the answer to the needs of society’s majority.
