Μake us preferred on Google A man on the northern Cyclades island of Andros was fined 700 euros and had nine points deducted from his driving record after police found him walking his horse while he allegedly intoxicated, according to his account to Mega TV.
The man said he was initially reported to police by a couple who accused him of animal abuse.
“Six police officers come and tell me to go to the precinct. I went …and they kept me there all night because the couple had filed a complaint against me for abuse. Then they tell me they’re going to give me a breathalyzer,” he said.
He said the subsequent alcohol test resulted in the 700-euro fine and the deduction of nine points from his vehicle driving license.
‘I Kept the Horse Close to Me’
The man said he had not intended to endanger other people while traveling with the horse, arguing that he kept the animal close to him to prevent an accident.
“It may have been a little dangerous, but I was holding the horse very close by the hand and I kept it next to me so we wouldn’t hit anyone,” he said.
He also claimed that the original complaint alleging animal abuse was false and that the breath test ultimately became the basis for the fine.
