A body of a young woman was discovered floating in the Corinth Canal in southern Greece on Friday morning, prompting a response from local port authorities.

According to officials, the alert was raised after reports that a body was seen on the surface of the canal. Members of the coast guard were immediately dispatched to the scene and carried out a recovery operation.

Authorities confirmed that the deceased is a young woman of unknown identity. No additional personal details have been established at this stage.

Following the recovery, the body was transferred by ambulance service personnel for formal identification procedures and a post-mortem examination. A forensic investigation has been initiated to determine the cause of death.
