Crete: 7-Year-Old Hospitalized After Dog Attack

A 7-year-old girl is being treated at Venizeleio Hospital in Heraklion, Crete, after being attacked by a dog.

The incident took place on Sunday, August 16, in Gagales, a village in the Mesara area of Heraklion. The girl was visiting a family friend’s home with her 43-year-old father. The friend, 34, was the dog’s owner.

Under circumstances that remain unclear, the dog got away from its owner’s watch and attacked the child, injuring her face, specifically her cheek.

The girl was first taken to the Moires Health Center and then transferred to Venizeleio Hospital in Heraklion. Doctors say her life is not in danger. Both the dog’s owner and the child’s father were arrested following the incident.
