Recognizing the increased needs faced by those called to work and settle on the island, the Municipality of Kea is moving forward with a monthly cash allowance for meals and housing for medical staff and substitute teachers.
This was stated in an announcement by the Municipality of Kea, which adds:
“With unanimous decision No. 66/2026 of the Municipal Council, the following were approved: €250 for rural doctors, €450 for specialist and auxiliary doctors, €150 for part-time substitute teachers, and €100 for full-time substitute teachers.
The allowance will be provided for the length of time the recipients serve at the Multi-Purpose Regional Medical Center of Kea or at the island’s schools, respectively. An application with the required supporting documents is needed to receive it, and applications will be handled in order of priority.
With this initiative, our Municipality aims to provide practical support to the people who staff critical health and education services and to make it easier for them to stay on the island.”
