Authorities in Kefalonia are widening their investigation into the death of 19-year-old Myrto, as new allegations from her family and emerging evidence raise questions about the possible involvement of additional individuals.

The case, which initially focused on three suspects already in custody, has taken a new turn following claims by the victim’s father that his daughter may have been targeted by an organized exploitation network. He has openly challenged key elements of the case, including the authenticity of messages sent from her phone, suggesting it may have been controlled by others.

New individuals under scrutiny

Investigators are now examining whether more people were involved beyond the three detained men. According to the family’s legal representative, the ongoing inquiry could reveal additional suspects as authorities analyze events leading up to the young woman’s death.

A key focus is a rented apartment in Argostoli, where Myrto spent her final hours. Police are reviewing surveillance footage, movements across multiple rooms, and the presence of at least five individuals, including four men and an 18-year-old woman who was in a nearby room.

Digital evidence and financial transactions

Investigators are also examining digital communications, including contact with a 66-year-old man who reportedly sent money to the victim shortly after a video call. Authorities are analyzing chat records and other digital traces to better understand the nature of their relationship and its relevance to the case.

Claims of exploitation

One of the most serious allegations under review involves claims that the victim may have been targeted for exploitation. Reports suggest that individuals may have intended to push her into prostitution, though officials have not confirmed these claims.

Additionally, one of the suspects, a 23-year-old acquaintance of the victim, is reported to have maintained a profile on escort websites, raising further questions about potential links to illegal activities.
