A charter flight operated by Eurowings experienced a tire blowout during landing at Rhodes International Airport “Diagoras” on Thursday morning, triggering an immediate safety response. Despite the mechanical failure, all 150 passengers disembarked safely and without injury.
The incident occurred as the aircraft, arriving from an international destination, was taxiing on the runway. According to local reports, a warning indicator in the cockpit alerted the pilot to the malfunction. The captain swiftly halted the aircraft and notified the airport’s control tower.

Following standard emergency protocols, ground crews quickly responded to ensure the safety of passengers, crew, and the aircraft itself. Emergency services were on standby, but no injuries were reported and there was no further damage to the plane or airport infrastructure.
Airport authorities confirmed that the plane will be moved—without passengers—to a designated area of the airport for inspection and necessary repairs.
While the incident caused temporary disruption, airport operations continued normally soon afterward. The airline and maintenance teams are currently investigating the cause of the tire failure. Rhodes International Airport remains fully operational.
