Authorities in Greece are investigating the death of a 49-year-old man found in a ditch in Pallini, a suburb east of Athens, in a case that has raised serious questions due to conflicting evidence and unclear circumstances.

The man was discovered near a playground after a passerby alerted police, initially believing he was unconscious. Officers and a forensic examiner later confirmed his death at the scene.

Note of love found beside the body

According to information from the investigation, a handwritten note was found next to the body in which the man expressed love toward his wife and brother. The message has led investigators to consider the possibility of suicide, although it does not provide any explanation for the events leading up to his death.

Police were able to identify the man shortly after the discovery and have begun taking statements from family members and close acquaintances in an effort to understand his recent condition and state of mind.

Unusual circumstances at the scene

The man was found in a ditch with two cable ties around his neck, placed in opposite directions. The unusual nature of the setup has added complexity to the investigation.

While initial forensic assessment suggested suicide as a possible explanation, the medical examiner also identified injuries on the body that do not fully align with that conclusion, leaving room for alternative scenarios.

Investigation ongoing

The body was found near the intersection of Leontariou Street and a local road reference area in Pallini. The location and circumstances have intensified scrutiny from investigators.

A full autopsy is expected to provide further clarity regarding the exact cause of death.
