Flood Alert in Western Regions

Authorities have placed parts of western Greece on a “Red Code” mobilization from Wednesday through Friday due to flood risks. The alert applies to the regional units of Achaia, Ilia, and the Peloponnese.

Civil protection authorities called on local and regional services to convene emergency coordination bodies following a severe weather bulletin issued by the national meteorological service.

Outlook Through Monday

Unsettled weather is expected to continue in the coming days. Friday will bring widespread rain and scattered thunderstorms, with strong phenomena in parts of the Peloponnese, the Ionian islands, Crete, the Cyclades, the Dodecanese, the northern and eastern Aegean islands, and Thrace. Temporary snowfall is forecast in central and northern mountains.

Similar conditions will persist into the weekend and Monday, with periods of rain and storms affecting many areas, strong winds at sea, and temperatures staying above normal for the season.
