A shocking video aired on Friday on the Mega Channel investigative program Fos sto Tounel (Light in the Tunnel) shows a woman walking barefoot on a street in the extreme southern Greece town of Neapoli with her hands tied behind her back.
The incident occurred in the coastal Laconia prefecture township, due south of Sparta, on March 19.
According to the program segment, the young woman asked a local shop employee for help to untie her. However, when asked who had tied her up, she did not provide a comprehensible answer.
The woman, also identified as a local resident, was first taken to the local health center and from there to a hospital in Sparta. She was later transported to a hospital in Athens, where she passed away a week later due to “pathological reasons”.
Drug dependency was also cited in the report.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
