Two men have been arrested following an armed incident at a bar in a seaside village on the Greek island of Crete, after a 20-year-old entered the venue carrying a firearm and frightened customers.
The incident took place on Sunday in the coastal settlement of Tris Ekklisies, in southern Crete. According to the Hellenic Police, the suspect’s actions caused panic among patrons and the bar’s owners, who immediately alerted the authorities.
Police locate weapon and make second arrest
Officers from local police units responded to the scene and arrested the 20-year-old suspect.
During the investigation, police also arrested a 25-year-old man who is accused of taking possession of the firearm and concealing it in an attempt to help the first suspect avoid prosecution.
The weapon was later recovered nearby and seized by the authorities.
Charges filed against both suspects
A criminal case has been opened against both men.
The 20-year-old faces charges related to weapons legislation and making threats, while the 25-year-old is also accused of harboring an offender after hiding the firearm during the police investigation.
