The frigate Kimon, the most advanced vessel in the Hellenic Navy, will remain in Thessaloniki from Oct. 24 to 28 as part of celebrations marking Greece’s national holiday on Oct. 28

The newly acquired frigate’s presence comes as Greece readies marks the Aug. 15 religious holiday, which carries a strong national significance

The French president and Greek prime minister visited the frigate “Kimon” in a high-profile naval ceremony featuring military honors, joint delegations and a flight display by Rafale aircraft over the port of Piraeus

Its first operational deployment took place near Cyprus following US and Israeli strikes on Iran, amid reported drone threats targeting British sovereign bases on the island.
