Μake us preferred on Google The Lake Festival marks its return to Northern Evia on August 30 and 31, with two opening events that showcase contrasting sides of music and performance.
The festival begins Sunday, August 30, with a concert by composer Evanthia Reboutsika at 9 p.m. at the Limni waterfront, with the next day bringing an audiovisual tribute to Vangelis at the Elymnion cinema theater at 8:30 p.m. Admission to both events is free.
The Lake Festival is part of “Megaron in Northern Evia,” an initiative of the Megaron Athens Concert Hall that for the fifth consecutive year is bringing music and cultural activities to the island. Its broader program includes 14 free events, including concerts, festivals and educational programs, taking place in Agia Anna, Prokopi, Mantoudi and Limni.

Reboutsika, one of the best-known composers in contemporary Greek music, will perform Sunday evening at the Limni waterfront, sharing the stage with Greek soprano Sofia Zova.
Known for a distinctive melodic style shaped in part by the musical traditions of the Eastern Mediterranean, Reboutsika reached a broad audience through A Touch of Spice (Politiki Kouzina), the film that brought her work widespread recognition.
Set against the sea and the night, the concert will offer a musical journey through her work.
A tribute to Vangelis

On Monday, the festival will turn to the international legacy of Greek composer Vangelis Papathanasiou, better known as Vangelis.
The tribute will be presented by Georges Katris through live electronic music accompanied by projections of excerpts from films featuring Vangelis’ music. The program will explore the composer’s cinematic sound, from the electronic landscapes of Blade Runner to his work for Chariots of Fire and Alexander.
The performance at the Elymnion cinema theater will combine live music and film projections to create an audiovisual tribute to a composer whose work crossed geographic, linguistic and artistic boundaries.
