Greek PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Moldovan President Maia Sandu had a phone conversation earlier today in which they discussed the opening of a Greek Embassy in Moldova next year.

The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties between the two nations, while they also broached the countries’ continued cooperation in the energy sector.

President Sandu emphasized the implementation of necessary reforms by the Republic of Moldova, actions reflected in the European Commission’s December 8 report on the expansion of the European Union.

The discussion also touched upon the Republic’s desire to start negotiations for EU accession as soon as possible, a topic which will be covered at the European Council meeting in mid-December.
