In light of the news of the proposed ceasefire agreement between Ukraine and Russia, announced by the US on Tuesday, the Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis offered his thoughts on X.

“I welcome the progress made today in the US – Ukraine talks and the announcement of a proposed ceasefire,” Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis stated in a post on X on Tuesday night.

“This is a significant step towards a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace for Ukraine. Now Russia must respond,” the Greek Prime Minister emphasized.

On Tuesday in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the Trump administration said it would immediately lift a pause on intelligence sharing and military support to Ukraine following high-level talks with U.S. officials that led Kyiv to agree to a 30-day cease-fire.

The cease-fire plan, which is contingent on Russian acceptance, envisions opening negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow on halting the war, according to a U.S.-Ukraine joint statement issued Tuesday.
