Thirteen arrests, including two police officers and a court officer, were the result of a raid at a luxury villa in the Kalyvia township on Monday morning, with media reports later claiming that a narcotics-fueled “rave party” had been going on at the site for at least two days.
The law enforcement officers arrested by their colleagues in the raid reportedly provided security for the upscale residence, located southeast of greater Athens in the southeast corner of Attica prefecture.
One of the more prominent individuals arrested is a British citizen of Azerbaijani descent who is a well-known DJ. Other reports claim the woman, 44, is related to the ruling family in Azerbaijan and has had previous “run ins” with the law in the United Kingdom, facing money laundering charges in one notable case. The owner of the residence was also arrested at the site.
A veritable smorgasbord of illegal narcotics was seized during the raid, according to police, including various types of methamphetamines, hallucinogenic blotters, “ecstasy” pills, cocaine and “pink cocaine”. Additionally, more than 43,000 euros were discovered in a locked bedroom safe.
