Μake us preferred on Google The Municipality of Athens is introducing four new local bus routes as part of its ATHENS MOVE initiative, designed to address gaps in neighborhood transportation and improve access for residents in areas facing greater economic and transportation challenges.
The new routes are intended to make everyday travel within Athens neighborhoods easier while providing stronger connections to major public transportation hubs and other key points across the city.
Four new routes
The planned municipal bus routes are:
- Neos Kosmos – Petralona – Kerameikos
- Kato Patisia – Sepolia – Kerameikos
- Probona – Ano Patisia – Kypseli
- Attiki – Kypseli
The new municipal transportation service is primarily aimed at improving neighborhood-level mobility, particularly for residents who do not have easy access to existing public transportation routes or who need additional options for their daily journeys.
Complementing Athens’ existing transit network
The four routes are also expected to complement the city’s existing public transportation network by strengthening connections between different parts of Athens.
According to the initiative, improved neighborhood connections will make it easier for residents to reach public services, workplaces, commercial areas and essential infrastructure.
The municipality says the initiative is intended to address local transportation gaps while providing residents with additional options for their everyday travel.
