A Greek father has had his prison sentence upheld by the Supreme Court of Greece for the repeated physical and sexual abuse of his minor daughter and violent threats against his wife. The man is currently serving seven years and six months in prison following convictions by the Mixed Jury Court of Patras.

Convictions for multiple crimes

In 2024, the father was convicted of three serious offenses: repeated severe bodily harm to his daughter and wife, repeated sexual abuse of a minor within the family, and repeated attempted sexual exploitation of his underage daughter, who was between 14 and 18 years old at the time.

After his conviction, the man appealed to the Supreme Court claiming insufficient justification in the lower court ruling. The court dismissed the appeal, describing his claims as unfounded.

Horrific abuse in Patras and Ilia

The abuse took place between June 2016 and April 2018 at the family home in Patras. The daughter suffered severe psychological trauma and post-traumatic stress due to the repeated beatings.

The wife also endured serious physical abuse. One of the most extreme incidents reportedly occurred in 2018, when the father forcibly placed her head in a kitchen oven and threatened to burn her.

Sexual abuse reported by the daughter

The sexual abuse of the daughter began at age 15 and continued until 2018. She reported the abuse to the police in June 2018. Many incidents occurred on weekends during the summer, including visits to the father’s family home in a village in Ilia.
