Heavy passenger traffic was recorded at the ports of Attica on Monday, August 17, as travelers began returning from their summer vacations.
More than 90,000 passengers traveled to and from the ports of Piraeus, Rafina and Lavrio, making Monday one of the busiest days recorded at the three ports.
According to available figures, 43,764 passengers departed, while 48,790 arrived, marking a clear shift toward returning travelers.
The figures point to the beginning of the summer return period, with arrivals exceeding departures for the first time by a noticeable margin.
Rafina and Lavrio see narrow gap
Traffic at the ports of Rafina and Lavrio showed a much smaller difference between departures and arrivals.
At Lavrio, 2,865 passengers departed, while 2,921 returned — about 56 more passengers arriving than leaving.
The figures indicate that the return flow has already begun to strengthen, although the peak of the summer vacation return period has not yet been reached.
Further increases in passenger traffic are expected in the coming days at Piraeus, Rafina and Lavrio as the summer vacation period gradually draws to a close and more travelers return to Attica.
