A 28-year-old man has been arrested in Thessaloniki after police seized more than two kilograms of cannabis during an anti-drug operation, Greek authorities said.

The operation was carried out by officers from the Northern Greece Organized Crime Directorate’s Narcotics Division after acting on specific intelligence. The suspect was located in the city, where officers conducted searches that led to the seizure of large quantities of drugs and other evidence.

According to the Hellenic Police, officers confiscated 1,873 grams of raw cannabis, along with four packages of processed cannabis, commonly known as “chocolate” cannabis, weighing a total of 175.6 grams.

Police also seized 13 grams of a cannabis and tobacco mixture, €900 in cash, a mobile phone and a precision electronic scale.

Authorities said the 28-year-old had previously come to the attention of law enforcement in connection with drug-related offences and theft.

The suspect is expected to appear before the competent public prosecutor to face charges under Greece’s drug legislation.
