Anna Vissi is one of those pop culture figures that needs no introduction for any Greek. With a captivating voice and unique presence, she creates waves akin to Taylor Swift’s “Swifties” trying to secure tickets for her tours. Her upcoming concert on Saturday, September 29 has broken a historic record, selling out 95.000 seats ranging from 25€ to almost 500€!

If you are one of the lucky 95.000 to be preparing for tomorrow’s monumental concert, TO BHMA International Edition has compiled all you need to know (and more) into one handy list.

Will the show be canceled if it rains?

The short answer: no.

Forecasts showing rain during the night hours of Saturday had some fans worried about sudden cancellations. Organizers have remarked that weather anomalies will not affect the continuation of the concert. Furthermore, it is reported that some rehearsals with Anna Vissi occurred during rainy weather so equipment has passed that test to some degree!

Bringing a thin raincoat in case of evening showers should be on the top of your concert checklist this Saturday. OAKA does not allow umbrellas into the venue.

How long is the show going to be?

Many details about the event of the year have been kept under wraps, including potential special appearances as well as the opening act.

The exact length of the show is equally as unclear, but rumored to go on for many hours. Public transportation including trains and metros have extended their scheduled routes for the entire day, and increased the frequency of their arrival to best accommodate all concertgoers. Trains will be operating until 2:10 a.m. , while the metro lines and tram will remain operational for 24 hours.

If you’re still unsure whether to go by car or train to OAKA stadium this Saturday, organizers highly recommend the latter to avoid delays.

Where is my section’s entrance?

If you were hoping to find an easy-to-read map, you will be sorely disappointed. However, according to organizers there will be comprehensive signs leading you to the correct section as long as you follow them faithfully.

You will find your numbered entrance on your ticket, to the right of your “section” number.

Arena/golden standing first-timers

Given that this is one of the biggest concerts of the year, it’s inevitable that some may be new to the scene. For a few ticketholders, it may even be their first concert altogether!

OAKA stadium may be a doozy of a first, as it is the biggest operational stadium in Greece. On the night of Anna Vissi at OAKA Olympic Stadium, the venue will be over-capacity by around 20.000 people—which means a few basic safety precautions include:

  • close-toed shoes, preferably strong leather boots (some hardcore concert veterans even choose steel-toed shoes!)
  • no big bags; choose a fanny pack or smaller crossbody purse instead
  • try to wear something with many pockets; cargo pants with larger pockets are especially handy, and some even fit water bottles
  • if you’re a glasses wearer, opt for contact lenses—this is CRUCIAL for those entering the arena

While a couple of these are personal recommendations, the bag point is also enforced by OAKA: no bags bigger than A4 size or else you will be denied entry to the stadium.

Concerts have an infectious energy that makes even the least active person bounce on their feet. It is inevitable regardless of where you watch from that you will accidentally get shoved, pushed or stepped on. Just know: nobody has it out for you, people are just having so much fun that it’s messing with their spatial awareness!

Complete ‘do-not-bring’ list

As noted on a video up on the singers Instagram page, the following items are strictly prohibited from entering OAKA stadium:

❌ Sharp or dangerous objects
❌ Flammable materials and fireworks
❌ Drones
❌ Large umbrellas
❌ Chairs or portable seating
❌ Glass and metal objects
❌ Banners, poles, or objects that could be thrown
❌ Lasers
❌ Alcohol and illegal substances

When do the doors open?

At 5:00 p.m. . The pre-show (what I assume will be the opener) starts at 20:00 and Vissi is scheduled to start performing at 21:00.

Organizers recommend to arrive to the stadium as early as possible to avoid long lines and seating delays.
