Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is in Berlin, Germany for a 2-day Summit of the conservative leaders and representatives of the European People’s Party (EPP) group in the European Parliament.
The central topics of discussion are Europe’s economy and security. According to government sources, the meeting is a closed-door session, during which Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will also hold significant bilateral talks.
This closed meeting of European People’s Party (EPP) leaders comes just ahead of Germany’s elections and the first major gathering of European leaders before the inauguration of U.S. President Donald Trump.
A key point of interest is the scheduled meeting between Mitsotakis and Friedrich Merz, who, as it appears, will be the next Chancellor of Germany. Mitsotakis is also considered one of the most influential leaders within the EPP.
The meeting between the Greek Prime Minister and Merz is set for 19:30 (Greek time) today. During his two-day visit on the sidelines of the EPP meeting in Berlin, the Prime Minister will also engage in other bilateral talks, including with European Parliament President Roberta Metsola, Chairman of the EPP Group in the European Parliament Manfred Weber, and the President of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides.
