All three individuals allegedly involved in a violent attack outside a nightclub in Heraklion, Crete, during May Day celebrations are now in the custody of authorities, after the third suspect — a minor — voluntarily surrendered to police.

The minor appeared at the Heraklion Police Headquarters accompanied by his lawyer, completing a series of detentions that began earlier with the arrest of a 23-year-old man and the appearance of his 18-year-old brother.

According to the lawyer representing the minor, the actions attributed to him do not reflect his character, describing him as “just a child in reality.”

Earlier arrests in the case

The 18-year-old had already surrendered to authorities earlier in the day, also accompanied by legal counsel. His older brother, aged 23, was arrested shortly after the incident in the early hours of May Day, following a police operation. He is accused of directly attacking a 57-year-old security worker outside the venue.

Legal representatives for the 18-year-old stated that he is in good condition and will provide a full account during questioning before judicial authorities. Both brothers are being held in custody until Wednesday, when they are expected to testify.

The 18-year-old reportedly told authorities he left the scene out of fear and confusion, later contacting his family and indicating his intention to cooperate with police.

Charges of attempted homicide

All three suspects have been charged with attempted homicide. According to police findings, the 23-year-old is believed to have stabbed the 57-year-old security guard in the leg when the victim tried to block entry to the nightclub.

The injured man suffered cuts to his legs and significant blood loss but is now reported to be in stable condition.

Timeline of the incident

Witnesses described the group approaching the venue wearing hooded clothing. The security worker attempted to stop them at the entrance, leading to a confrontation in which he was stabbed.

Despite his injuries, the victim reportedly pursued the attackers outside the club. The situation escalated further as the group allegedly brandished knives and imitation firearms and attempted to flee in a vehicle.

According to eyewitness accounts, the car driven by the suspects attempted to hit the injured man as he pursued them. He narrowly avoided being struck, falling to the ground instead, while the vehicle collided with a parked car before the occupants fled on foot.
