Μake us preferred on Google A 26-year-old Afghan man accused of the murder of 38-year-old British national Elizabeth Jane Ross has been granted until Thursday, August 6, to testify before an investigating judge in Athens.
Sharif Ahmadzai is facing charges of intentional homicide, robbery, and violations of Greece’s weapons legislation. Ross’s body was discovered on July 18 inside a suitcase in an abandoned building in the Kypseli district of Athens.
The suspect denies the murder charge, claiming he found Ross dead in the bathroom of her apartment and, in a state of panic, decided to move her body.
According to the investigation, the testimony of Ahmadzai’s wife is believed to have played a pivotal role in the case. After becoming suspicious of his behavior, she contacted the authorities.
According to the information cited in the report, she discovered through a location-tracking application that on the night of July 15, while she was away from home, her husband had been at the apartment where Elizabeth Jane Ross was living.
After Ross’s body was found, the woman left the family home with their child and informed police of what she knew.
Authorities are also examining the relationship between the suspect and the victim, as they are believed to have met through humanitarian work.
According to the report, Ahmadzai and his wife had founded the Christian organization Love Every Nation Athens, which supports refugees and migrants. Ross also worked with humanitarian and Christian organizations and is believed to have met the couple through those activities.
