Traffic has been fully restored on the Athens–Corinth National Road, in the direction toward Athens, after an hours-long disruption caused by a truck overturning early Wednesday morning, April 30.

The accident occurred near the Skaramagas area when a large truck carrying fruits and vegetables struck the central barrier and overturned under still unclear circumstances. The incident took place shortly after 5 a.m., near Koumoundourou Lake and just before Schistos Avenue.

Emergency crews, including police and fire services responded promptly to the scene. According to initial reports, the driver of the truck, sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital as a precaution by an EKAB ambulance.

The highway remained closed for over three hours as a crane was needed to remove the overturned vehicle. Authorities also had to clear the road surface, which had been strewn with cabbage and other produce from the truck’s cargo.

At the time of the incident, the truck blocked four lanes of traffic, and despite its removal, the road remained closed for some time due to the extensive cleanup required. Traffic congestion in the area remains heavy as a result of the disruption.
